Thank the Lord for helping me make it through yet another semester! I has definitely had its challenges and rewards, but I've made it out in one piece... Now the good stuff begins. Look forward to more updates on the site as well as more info about my summer school and research progress. BIG THINGS COMING, ladies and gentlemen!!! STAY TUNED!!! Add Comment Now that I've had time to recuperate from the weekend's festivities, I'm happy to say that last weekend's Murfreesboro Community Action Summit was a SUCCESS!!! Everything went to plan, every section had live, productive, and meaningful dialogue, and everyone left with a heightened awareness of the current state of the community and what more needs to be done in the near future. All the stress and time was definitely worth it, and I most certainly will do more events in the near future. Look out Murfreesboro, Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, and other areas....Stephen J. Smith is coming!!! My first event, the Murfreesboro Community Action Summit, will be this Saturday, April 10 at the Stones River Church. I'm excited, but also nervous...I believe everything will turn out okay though. This is my way of giving back to the community that has played such an integral part in raising me...COME OUT AND SHARE IN THE GREAT DIALOGUE AND DISCUSSION!!! Last night, I was in attendance for Dr. Steve Perry's profound speech last night at school, and I definitely left more energized than ever before. He has a way of reaching your innermost passion and pulling it out of you. I definitely have some work to do, and so do you! Finally, an opportunity to breathe! (Thank God!) It hasn't been the best of weeks for me, but I made it through. Definitely, improvements are in order for next week, but that's not different from any other week. COMPLACENCY is a no-no....remember that people! WOW...it has been a VERY long time since I've updated this portion of the site. I'm still alive and kicking, ladies and gentlemen! :-) Had a great spring break and now I'm ready to get to work. Trying to be as productive as possible because the next few weeks will be nothing short of chaotic. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few things that are coming up: presentation to SGA meeting, American Red Cross presentation, Equal Pay Day Bake Sale, Phi Alpha Delta Meeting, party Saturday, Scholarship pageant, step presentation at a local elementary school, exhibition step on campus...and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Let's not forget about classes, quizzes, and exams on top of that! So yeah...hopefully you all can understand my tight schedule and work with me. I'm not complaining at all, just discussing the many things involved in my life so that maybe someone out there can realize they are capable of successfully managing more than they thought they could. STRUGGLE NOW TO SUCCEED LATER!!! Be blessed! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the "easy" part of my week has arrived. Big basketball game tomorrow vs. Kentucky, movies with my friends, and much more in the works for the next few days. Couldn't feel much better than I do now. However, the work doesn't end when the weekend starts. Aside from working through more details of my upcoming conference, there are other things I also wanna knock off the to-do list. Considering how I started off the week, I need to step up my game ASAP!!! Everybody have a safe, blessed weekend! This past week has been a blur, to say the least. Amid classes, Mock Trial competition, Kappa planning & events, Phi Alpha Delta preparations, and working through the logistics of my upcoming conference, I have had no time to slow down... Oh yeah, if you have any particular issues you'd like to have featured on my site (or if you'd like to contribute anything yourself), contact me through my comments section or via email at mr.stephenjsmith@yahoo.com. I'll definitely get back to you. More work to do, so until next time...be blessed! Ok...not my best week last week. Rushed assignments, late assignments, mental fatigue, and pure procrastination resulted in my attempts to play "catch up" for at least until the end of this week. Take it from me, people. The moment you feel like taking a rest is probably the moment that you should work even harder. As the saying goes...short-term sacrifice, long-term paradise. It's the beginning of a new school week, which means another opportunity to inch towards my academic goal of a 4.0...looking at things as a whole, it seems difficult. However, I'm taking a "one assignment at a time" approach. That should keep the stress down thoughout the semester. A lot of progress has been made thus far with my community summit planning, too. It should be a huge success. The major part left to address is promotion, and thanks to the great supporting cast known as my family, a plan is already in place to handle that with ease. Coming from someone who has ALWAYS preferred to work alone, I now have an even greater understanding of the benefits of working within a TEAM!!! |
